Astigmatism
It is no longer necessary to suffer from astigmatism. The correction of astigmatism is performed on a daily basis at Siepser Laser Eyecare and this correction is easily obtained even in the highest degrees of astigmatism.
Astigmatism may accompany farsightedness or nearsightedness. It is usually caused by an irregularly shaped cornea but can sometimes result from an irregularly shaped lens, which is located behind the cornea, resulting in blurred vision and requiring the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses.
The correction of astigmatism can either be done solely by the use of astigmatic keratotomies, limbal relaxing incisions and laser in those individuals who have otherwise normal eyes. This provides very satisfied patients who would have difficulty seeing at any distance without correction and now can function without the use of contacts or glasses. The procedure takes just a few minutes and recovery varies from immediate to several weeks according to the specific requirements of each individual’s needs. This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and typically requires about a 3-hour recovery at one of our surgical centers.
