Chalazion
A chronic inflammation resulting from an obstructed meibomian gland in the eyelid; associated with infection. The acute condition is called an internal hordeolum.
Chemosis
Edema of the bulbar conjunctiva, forming a swelling around the cornea.
Conductive Keratoplasty (CK)
A solid-state infrared laser refractive surgical procedure employed to create heat shrinkage of the peripheral corneal stroma thereby steepening the central cornea and reducing hyperopia.More about Conductive Keratoplasty.
Contact Lens
Small, thin removable plastic lens worn directly on the front of the eyeballs, usually used instead of ordinary eyeglasses for correction or protection of vision.
Cornea
Transparent tissue that forms the front part of the eyeball, covering the iris and pupil. The cornea is the first part of the eye that bends (or refract s) the light and provides most of the focusing power.
Corneal Abrasions
A scratch or defect in the superficial cornea caused by trauma.
Corneal Transplant
Surgical operation of grafting a replacement cornea onto an eye.
Crystalens
Crystalens is an intraocular lens ( IOL ) implant that is placed in the eye after a cataract is removed or during refractive lens exchange surgery. Unlike a traditional monofocal IOL, the Crystalens is an accommodating IOL, designed to allow both distance and close vision without the help of additional distance or reading glasses in most situations.
Customvue
VISXT's CustomVueT procedure combines the technologies of the Wavefront and STAR S4 Excimer Laser systems for high-definition, high-accuracy LASIK vision correction. CustomVue makes it possible to perform customized refractive surgeries using information gathered from your own eyes. This allows us to correct the very specific refractive errors that obscure each patient's vision so you can enjoy the best post-operative vision quality possible. Other benefits of the CustomVue process include faster treatment time and no need to dilate the pupils.
